With this visa, you can

  • move to or stay in Australia as a permanent resident 
  • sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
  • apply for Australian citizenshipif eligible

Visa Requirements

  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • the applicant must be able to obtain an assurance of support from an eligible assurer. The assurer can be the eligible child of the applicant, a natural person or a body who is able to pass the income test
  • the applicant must meet the balance-of-family test where at least half of your children is either an Australian citizen, and Australian Permeant resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
  • the assurer needs to provide financial support for the applicant so the applicant will not have to rely on government assistance after she/he enters Australia on this visa
  • meet all applicable visa conditions and follow Australian law
  • not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa

Apply for a Parent Visa (subclass 103) as a retiree

  • If you apply for the subclass 103 visa as retiree you do not have to:

    • Meet the balance of family test, or
    • Have a sponsor or and assurance of support
